We all know very well that life undergoes a thousand changes, but we do not see so clearly what is the right attitude towards these changes. I’m born and raised in two completely different societies, I think that also gives me a completely different perspective. In this case, the Basque Country and Western Sahara, although they have a common history, are absolutely wonderful countries that are also very different.
The last few years have caused pain in the Basque Country, unemployment, economic difficulties, political obstacles... And even if it sounds bad, we should get a good read on all of this. We learn from the difficulties of life, or we should, and learning to adapt to different situations is not bad. In some cases the same question comes to mind, how is it possible that we all behave so differently when we are human? The situation in which some families are living is very worrying, but in other cases do we not make the problems bigger than they are?
My experiences in the Sahara make me think that perhaps we are acting very negatively in the beloved Basque Country. We should feel very rich because we have treasures like family and friends. We can't forget the dirty money and our reliance on it. Is it really necessary, or do we make it inevitable?
Sometimes it comes to mind the dolls that we have when we are little and their “accessories”, if we are not becoming like them. Barbie the skier...
As time goes by I see more and more clearly that life, if not, hits us pretty hard and we don’t have to help it. My Saharawi grandmother always tells me that I have to take things easy, and even if it costs me, I try. For many this tranquility is exaggerated, especially when viewed from the culture here. Where's the balance? What is the boundary between calm and hysteria?
If, in my opinion, we have something to learn from each other, we have problems here doing what is necessary but not making it bigger and there, perhaps, seeing life situations more realistically.
I try to be more optimistic on my part every day and believe that the bottle is half empty or half full according to one’s perspective. Maybe when we are in a really tough situation, we will give importance to everything. Always raise your hearts!
