Anna Gavalda is a 37-year-old French writer. In this age, it has already been read in 38 languages by more than 10 million people. And among all these languages, we have had the grace to read in Basque from the hand of Alberdania. He has published: I loved the first novel (2009); 35 kilos of hope (2006), a recommended reading written for young people between 8 and 12 years of age with problems in school and this last narrative that we have in our hands, Escape politta (2010).

The book is easy to read, and Jon Muñoz’s translation into Basque only softens the reading. It is therefore a short novel that can be easily read on a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon, or as a gift to readers who do not have much ability to read in Basque.

Garance, the protagonist, tells us all about it in the first person. Her sister Lola and her brothers Simon and Vincent are the main protagonists of the novel. They embark on one of these marriages that must necessarily go, at the request of the protocol and of the kinship diplomacy: rather than the mind, driven by the obligation. But Vincent can't go and Garance, Lola and Simon skip the wedding and decide to visit Vincent at his castle. I mean, make a nice escape.

Through this small transgression, Gavalda leads us to remember that we also incline ourselves to enjoy life. The theme of the story is, without a doubt, childhood among brothers and love among children. Garance reminds us of the relationships of the brothers with the escape as a narrative excuse. Honest, clean and strong relationships.

It tells us about the experiences of each of the protagonists and they are very real characters, like those who walk next to us, who could be us. The destiny of life, the world of work, the management of love... Perhaps the main turning point of the narrative is in the development of great contrasts. Gavalda has created very opposite, antagonistic characters and does the same with environments, since she adapts very opposite environments. In fact, each character requires their own space. And all this in a very short time and short story. But there is the art of this author, who, in fact, in what works in short, brings an incredible ease to his pen. A beautiful escape, therefore, to make a parenthesis in our missions and a guided visit to this literary castle located in the French countryside.
