Apoximia: Twin Plants
Researchers at the French Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA) have obtained apoximia in sexual plants for the first time. In asexual plants it is easy for apoximia to occur, that is, the offspring of a plant contain clones of the genes of the original plant; but in sexual plants, because pollination occurs, only some of the characteristics of the original plant are transmitted.
In an article published in the journal Science, researchers have shown the way to apply apoximia to sex plants.
