he moved the location of the stories from the US to Europe, we are accustomed to light and complicated comedies with the tranquility of Woody Allen, who, without much pretension, does not need to prove anything. But taking advantage of this indifferent style, the director’s latest film gravely laughs at today’s immature and petty society.

He makes it clear that he is an excellent storyteller and is able to tell masterfully how a family dissolves, with a sense of humor but relentless. A great pessimist is a New Yorker who, disguised as a light-hearted comedy, has focused on bad issues, many of which are common in his filmography: the end of love, the fear of aging, reason vs. superstition –and superstition triumphs because ignorant fools are happier–, greed, family relationships... and failure. If I didn't do it with humor, Woody Allen would represent a pathetic and desperate society. Because it’s like this: able to take unexpected dangerous turns in the script, throwing characters into the abyss without any intention of rescuing them.

Excellent is Anthony Hopkins, affected by the age crisis, involved in the gym and solarium and in love with the beautiful blonde actress who could be his daughter. There are also performances by Gemma Jones and Naomi Watts.

And if you don’t like it, soon there will be a new creation of the director in the cinemas, who, following his frenetic rhythm, is already making another film, among them Carla Bruni. Always doing the same thing and never repeating it. You need talent for that too.
