The Fiscal Objection campaign begins with a theatrical parody near the palace of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. The organizations have denounced the “misuse” of part of the citizens’ taxes included in the income statement.
According to last year’s data, the Spanish State spent 18,776 million euros on military spending; 404 euros from the income of each taxpayer. Madrid has just announced an increase in the budget for Defensa, specifically 11% more, and they warn that this increase will be thanks to the taxes of the citizens.
The members of the platform explain that this exercise is a tool for “empowerment” as individuals and as a collective. “It is a tool that allows us to be protagonists in the construction of a better society.” They also remind us that wars begin in our own home and that the way to stop the weapons that leave Santurce begins within the responsibility of each one.
In addition to helping citizens to renounce this injustice due to the existence of alternatives, the platform aims to channel taxes to other projects.
