The United Left MEP, Sira Rego, on Wednesday asked a number of questions in the European Parliament to check "irregularities" in the operation of the Zubieta incinerator. Given the worrying conclusions of the report issued by Euskopol, it raises the possibility of opening a study on the incinerator to check its irregular functioning.
Ezker Anitza IU explained in press release that Rego mentioned the conclusions of the report. The Euskopole report indicates that emission limit values for 26 hours without system reaction were then exceeded. The study also showed that the incinerator is responsible for the discharges of polluting water from Arkaitzerreka.
Thus, the Multiple Left MEP has asked the European Commission to check whether the Zubieta incinerator complies with Directive 75/2010 and European waste legislation. He also asked whether he would contact the Gipuzkoa Waste Consortium for the status of the facility.
The Multiple Left of Gipuzkoa denounces citizens' concern about the "lack of transparency" and "management errors". According to the coordinator, Arantza González, it is "unacceptable" that the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa does not require the management company to comply with the contract in view of the numerous incidents it has had since the installation was launched.
