Why will we do soka-dantza on 12 October?
- Jose Ignazio Ansorena explains the meaning of the soka-dantzak, perfect for the Centennial Festival of ARGIA: “Soka-dantza emerged at the end of the Middle Ages, in a challenge between villas and feudal lords. And it means ‘we are also something’. That's why a rope is organized between the people of the village and it's a symbol of the community. In the plaza, on the stage of the village, the rope is assembled and taken over, signaling ‘this is our place’.
On October 12, ARGIA celebrates its Centenary Festival in Donostia. The body will go to the plaza and perform the solemn act through the dance: the soka-dantza. 13:00 Plaza Nueva.
Ansorena, in an article written in ARGIA by Itsaso Zubiria, explains that in the soka-dantza there are several elements full of symbolism: "The aurresku, that is, the leader who pulls aside, but has the opponent, as in all societies, the ass; and in that tension begin to dance, the aurresku and the ass in their demonstrations." Two excellent dancers, Amaiur Luluaga and Aiert Beobide, will participate in the soka-dantza of the ARGIA Centennial. “Then they make a bridge, saying that in order to live together we must all respect the minimum standards, and all the neighbors and neighbors that are on the rope pass through the bridge.”
