At a press conference held this Monday before the Durango Court, the Charter of Social Rights of the Basque Country (EHESK) and the Zaldibar Argitu platform announced that they will be a popular indictment in the open case to investigate the disaster at the Zaldibar landfill.
The process has two ramifications, one affecting the detachment and management of it, and the other investigating the death of Joaquín Beltrán and Alberto Sololuze. The Durango Court has opened proceedings against Verter Recycling, but the promoters of the popular accusation consider that, in addition to the responsibility of the owners of the company, the "bad management" of public institutions that "are trying to wash their hands" should be investigated.

“We believe that, because of the popular commitment and the seriousness of the event, the voice of the citizens must be present in the trial, from a perspective that favors the general interest,” they explained in the appearance of Durango. Clarification of "concrete" responsibilities and provision of "transparent" information is essential and will therefore be sought by the courts of justice.
EHESK and Zaldibar Argitu launch a fundraising campaign to fund the costs of the trial.
Eight months
This Tuesday, eight months have passed since the Zaldibar landfill was demolished and two workers have been captured at the site of the event. Alberto Sololuze's lifeless body was found a few weeks ago, but at the moment no trace of his colleague Joaquín Beltrán has appeared.
This Thursday in Zalla, in the town of Beltrán, they will conduct a “joint” concentration to “say enough and ask that you get it out as soon as possible”
