The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said in an interview with Bild newspaper that the confinement of older people can last until the end of the year, as it is the only way to protect themselves from the new coronavirus, at least until the Covid-19 vaccine is obtained.
"I know it's difficult," said Von der Ley- and that isolation is a burden, but it's a matter of life and death. We have to have discipline and patience. (...) Children and young people will have more freedom of movement than older people and who may have diseases." Among the elderly people, especially those in nursing homes, stood out as one of the most necessary to protect themselves from contagion.
The President of the European Commission has expressed his hope that, in addition to achieving the vaccine by the end of the year, it can be applied to the citizens: "To ensure that the population can get vaccinated quickly, we are already in talks with drug producers worldwide," he added.
