The Light of the Best Campaign Award went to the Head of the Rising initiative, made up of parents’ associations, for the work done by the school to delay the age of their children to be the first mobile phone and for the results obtained, for the struggle of the school to be a breathing space without a mobile. Miren Ros and Izaskun de Miguel, members of the initiative, have received the Luz Award.
The Raise the Head campaign has received the Light Award for the following reasons:
"We were fascinated by techno-utopia; we were captured by the mantra 'it's always better with technology'. And we filled the classrooms with Chromebooks, and the houses with mobiles; we hooked up to social networks; we even started to ask ChatGPT, and we almost forgot to write by hand.
But look where techno-utopia has brought techno-doubts to the end. Critical voices are being raised: they talk about rethinking the digitalization of schools, the importance of digital disconnection, inappropriate and unreal content on the Internet, the dependence generated by social networks and numerous mobile applications, the lights and shadows of artificial intelligence... and the harmful effects this has especially on children and adolescents.
Counteracting the current is not easy, let alone when the current has such strength and power. Our laureates today have managed to promote a critical view of this current and build a breathing space, uniting the forces of thousands of families."
“Our message is spreading a lot and we are appearing in the media, but we cannot forget our focus.” Miren Ros and Izaskun de Miguel from the Raise the Head initiative have received the Light of the Campaign Award with emotion, and they have their eyes on the goals that come: to continue rewarding parents and protecting children from the effects of digitalization.
