The theatre school of Urruña began its work in February 2020 with the objective of offering theatre in Basque to young people between 6 and 18 years of age. The crisis caused by the coronavirus has seriously affected the group's activity, which has forced several of the actions planned to be suspended. They've looked for new ways to fund the project, and they've just pulled out a storyboard with the goal of making money.
The first edited book is “Urtaroak”, which collects the illustrated stories, drawings and verses of each month. The work was elaborated with texts by Ixabel Etxeberria and with images illustrated by Garbiñe Ubeda in the program.
The writer has said that there will be more story books and that they will work on “the concerns of boys and girls.” As he has said, they already have some written stories, but for that they also need funding. The first leaflet, published in collaboration with the association of fans of the theatre of Euskal Herria, is for sale for four euros at the Leclerc establishment in Urruña. “We need your support to continue to offer free time in Basque outside school,” said the members of the school.
Etxeberria has underlined that the main objective of these supports is to promote the relationship between parents and girls of both sexes. On the other hand, as it is composed of short texts and diverse drawings, it has also said that they can be suitable and useful for parents who are learning Basque.
