Herri Urrats arrives full of claims on her 40th anniversary
- Herri Urrats is 40 years old this year and comes “full of surprises”, organizers have explained to ARGIA. Under the motto “Urrats zubi”, the festival will be held on May 14 in Senpe and the demands will have an important place, such as that exams can be held in Basque. The song of the festival will be made by Su Ta Gar and will be presented in spring.
Herri Urrats is an important source of revenue for the Iparralde ikastolas. According to the organizers, the figures are growing rapidly in schools: “In recent years we have increased the Xalbador and MEEK schools and have already been filled. At present, the Piarres Larzabal Ziburu College has been overwhelmed and the fifth school is essential. The Senpere College will recite the students between Zuraide and Basusarri; the works began last December and by next September the school will be ready to receive the first 80-85 students”.

The festival of ikastolas is not only a source of income, but a day of reclaiming, and the struggle to do the Brebeta and Bajo exams in Basque this year will be very present. “Two months remain for the peculiarities of the Lower and Paris remains silent. The bridges link one end and the other, and Herri Urrats has been for the last 40 years a great bridge between the North and the South, the Basque Country and society, between Seaska and society, between the Ikastolas and society”, the organizers said. And warn that to secure the future, it is important to continue building bridges and strengthening their foundations.
The logo is linked to the 40th anniversary and this logo initially presented will be added. The song of the festival will be made by Su Ta Gar and will be presented in spring.
