Urkullu said that the closure of companies is not in the hands of the Basque Government and acknowledged that this morning (22 March) the meeting of the Spanish Government President with the regional presidents discussed the cessation of economic activity.
Capacity of hospitals
Lehendakari has pointed out that the objective is to expand the capacity of hospitals and has announced three measures for this purpose: Preparation of five floors of the Txagorritxu Hospital of Vitoria-Gasteiz for patients with coronavirus, promotion of public-private collaboration and reorganization of hospitals. Should the need arise, the headquarters of the BBK Foundation in Bizkaia and the Chiron Clinic in Gipuzkoa would be used.

Spanish Army
Asked about the entry of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) into the Basque Autonomous Community, lehendakari has assured that it is a decision of the Spanish Government to do so. He has insisted that the CAV has its own resources and that for "certain services" the army "is not necessary".
Urkullu said that "the worst is to come" and that "it's not alarmism." In his view, coronavirus cases will begin to decline in April.
