UPN Congress: change of direction or continuity?
As proposed by UPN or a member of the regionalist party of the Union of Navarra, he has been away from power for many years. And not only that: it is immersed in nothing, the PP and Vox, without forgetting the members of the 6F association with whom it shares travel. Out of power and in nothing, that brand.

Esparza does not get the presidency and is not close. That is why, after three legislatures, it has decided not to reintroduce itself as a candidate, but it will not de facto stop politics, because it will oppose the Chivite government. Meanwhile, Chivit is delighted with this news.

As Esparza leaves the leadership of the party, the two players who guide the future of UPN must be mentioned. Ibarrola and Toquero, former mayor of Pamplona and mayor of Tudela respectively. Initially, Toquero turned deaf ears to Ibarrola’s offer, hoping he would take the lead. However, Toquero accepted the offer without being able to obtain the necessary protections. Thus, Ibarrola and Toquero presented a joint candidacy to lead the UPN, avoiding competition or internal cracks. Ibarrola will be vice-president, so Toquero will be a candidate for vice-president.
This agreement, on the other hand, has explained the secrets between the members of the party. The joint candidature meant that the vote was not taken at the congress, and that the one who opposed that candidature could not show it. On the contrary, the Directorate makes an amendment, which, although a single application, is put to the vote so that whoever is against can appear. Manoeuvre in the face of the anger that has occurred. UPN lost quite a few members as a result of the internal crisis created by the Sayas-Adanero pair, which will not result in further losses of members from joining the division. UPN just needed that.
In retrospect, UPN has sought the recovery of the highest office of the Palacio de Navarra: the creation of the Navarra Suma coalition or the support for the Labour Reform (Mr. Casero frustrated the move to the couple Sayas-Adanero, unfortunately it was). Thus, congress plays a fundamental role in the future of the regionalist party: they will have to set a political strategy that responds to what, with whom and for what.
UPN has an important factor in its favour: it is still the party that gets the most votes. That is, it is protected by a solid social mass, but far from being a hegemonic part of the past.
