Jauregi was fined on 24 August last, during Aste Nagusia in Bilbao, according to Europa Press. When the Municipal Police was intervening in the Arenal of Bilbao, which became txosnas at the time of the year, Jauregi took pictures of them. The Municipal Police imposed a fine on him for this fact and, subsequently, “for trying to have his legal rights respected”.

The Platform against Citizen Criminalization (PAH) has explained that, despite the appeals filed, the dossier of sanctions has been resolved and sanctioned with 300 euros. Jáuregui has been accused of disrespect for the Municipal Police, but the platform has denied that a similar case has taken place. In this regard, they have asked the courts to cancel the fine, a request that will be resolved at the hearing on 23 January. Unlike the case tried on 12 December last, the platform has indicated that they hope that in this case it will not be necessary to reach the Administrative Litigation Court.

The platform recalled that citizens have the right to monitor police interventions and that taking photos to document such monitoring "is not illegal", it added. According to his reading, these police abuses come, among other things, from the hand of the Law of Citizen Security, which violates the rights of expression and action of citizens. They have therefore called for the repeal of the Moorish Act and have called for it to be repealed.
