- The municipalities of Zumaia, Getaria and Azpeitia want a local police model based on "trust and proximity". To do this, they will hire together five local police officers who will know these municipalities well and will also ask the candidates for the B2 level of Basque.
The municipalities of Zumaia, Getaria and Azpeitia want to move towards another model of local police, "close and community", as previously done by the municipalities of Lea-Artibain Ondarroa, Markina-Xemein and Lekeitio. It is announced that a joint public job offer will be made for this purpose. On Tuesday, the Mayor of Azpeitia, Nagore Alkorta, the Mayor of Getaria, Haritz Alberdi and the Mayor of Zumaia, Iñaki Ostolaza, gave details about the call.

Until now, local police officers from the Arkauti police academy have been hired in these municipalities, but they often do not have enough knowledge of the locality and "experience has shown us that they immediately give up their job to go to other towns or capitals", explained the three municipal authorities.
