With the death of Txema Larrea the knot that will never be released is gone: who was this man and why did he know several members of the first line of Basque culture and politics?
Talking with his friends, he reveals different faces of the Biscayan: ironic commentator, militant, wise, avid reader, poet... It is a privilege of few to solve the puzzle.
In any case, the fragmented story of Txema Larrea began in Lapacha and his legend in Basauri. He began to work on the cultural front of ETA without being of legal age and escaped repression at the age of 17 and went into exile. Federico was in contact with Krutwig or Negro there and then returned to the Basque Country as an illegal liberate.
His arrest marked him physically forever. When he was in hiding, before he entered the house, he realized that the police were inside. However, he progressed and after a shooting, he received several bullets in his leg. He was pronounced dead by the cops after they discussed whether or not to kill him in front of him. They took him to the morgue and there they noticed that he still had a pulse. The same policeman who was wounded by Txema had to donate his blood to the hospital, there was no one closer to him from the same blood group. He was very fond of the irony that was then introduced into his body, perhaps.
He was imprisoned for a while, working as a manager, and took to the streets with amnesty. When the armed organization was divided, with the Left, Wilson and others elected ETA PM, but Txema never said that it was polyphilia; "I V. I belonged to the Assembly," he always replied when the subject came up. Apparently, the Skinny, his best friend, was very disappointed with this decision.
Looking at the newspapers, it seems that he was later arrested again, along with Bixente Serrano Izko, but his thread is lost in the political sphere.
His imprint on culture is more evident; Pott moved around the Banda and reconciled with Joseba Sarrionandia and/or Jon Juaristi. He also got along well with Michelle. He participated in the creation of the bookstore Auzolan and the publishing house Pamiela and in the latter he published several books, one with Joseba Sarrionandia. In his writings he dealt with poetry and the history of the Basque language, among others.
He spent a lot of years teaching history at the UPV and after his retirement he was a loyal customer of the Biba bar on Ronda Street in Bilbao, where it was easy to see him talking to famous names of Basque culture or anyone from the neighbourhood.
In these incomplete biographical sketches, on the other hand, this character that made him so loved does not appear: an honest friend, an exciting and humorous interlocutor, and a living encyclopedia of the history of the Basque Country. His elusive personality hid all the varied treasures of the type that he had inside, because he did not give them any importance, and sadly, most of them have gone with him. However, it was obvious that in his farewell, the sparkles of these precious stones captivated a large number of people.
