The City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian takes the migrants who arrive in the city to a three day reception center and then stay on the street. Gaztetxe Txantxarreka welcomed 16 of them on August 10 and offered them their help. They say that they now need more help than ever before, above all they encourage citizens to exercise vigilance.
The tickets were put on sale last Friday and they had to announce that they had run out of time. It was a powerful poster. The bertsolaris Beñat and Unai Gaztelumendi and Ane Labaka, Olatz Salvador, Anari, Izaro Andrés, Gorka Urbizu, Aiora and Piti, and Iker Lauroba and Letu were the guests along with The Txantxafrika’s. It is a group made up of people from the Gaztetxe and migrants who became popular by sharing the song of the same name as the group.
The bertsolaris started in the evening. It was noticed in the environment a great nervousness, a sign that the night would be special. Then Olatz Salvador sang and helped the nerves to relax a little. Anari took the witness and, although he was not entirely well for the voice, he was encouraged to give a concert. After them, Aiora and Piti, of ZEA Mays, who acted in the bilbaíno scenario, joined the stage. Although at first they played two quiet songs, the last one was Negua joan da ta ta ta da ta ta da ta and the audience warmed up. A colleague from Txantxarreka and a migrant read a few words. They thanked all the attendees and invited them to be part of the project. Emotion took hold of it. At the end of these, it was the turn of Iker Lauroba and Leire Letu. Lauroba repeated with Izaro. The final turn will be for Gorka Urbizu, singer of the Berri Txarrak group. He was also nervous and asked for the audience's collaboration on the songs. And finally, the most special time of the night. The migrants went on stage to sing a couple of songs with the members of Txantxarreka. They were nervous, but then everything happened to them, and they were very grateful. People also thanked them for the initiative and the party ended with cries of “No one is illegal” and “Welcome refugees”.
