Two employees have been laid off by the management of Tubacex Taylor. He said in a statement to the media. The union declares that these dismissals constitute “a clear violation of trade union freedom” and that they reveal “the dictatorial position of Tubacex”.
The workers’ representatives explain that the workers have been dismissed as soon as they receive the strike call. On 19, 20, 26, 27, 30 and 31 July, they plan to strike at the Artziniega plant in favor of employment and the labor agreement. The union ELA denounces that workers have been on frozen wages and without a labor agreement since 2014 because “the management has withdrawn the agreement twice.” “This is very serious because it highlights the unreliability of the management and the Tubacex team.”
Last year the Directorate launched the Joint Employment Regulation Dossier. The workers then mobilized:
Meanwhile, according to ELA, the management was “investing in foreign factories”, “consolidating clear bases for relocation and thus blackmailing the workers of Artziniega”. Since then, the union has denounced that the management has made “unilateral decisions, denying a real negotiation”. As such, the union has asked the management to form a “real bargaining table” while signing the labor agreement they agreed in 2016.
A rally to demand this will be held on Thursday, July 19, the first day of strike, in front of the Tubacex plant in Laudio, from 1:00 to 15:00. On Friday, the protest will be held in front of the Basque Government from 11:00 to 12:30. “We will request a meeting with the Industry Department to explain the serious situation of the workers of Tubacex Taylor”
