At 10:30 a.m. this Tuesday, a meeting between the committee and the management of Tubacex has been started to continue the negotiations. In fact, the pipe producer group maintains its intention to dismiss 150 workers from the region, among whom Tuenti stands out.
At 10:20 hours, several workers have entered the factory with trade union representatives so that the cry against redundancies and cuts is present. Many operators have also concentrated abroad and the Ertzaintza has been on the spot, although there have been no incidents since the workers have left by their own means.
However, the morning has started with surprises, as the bus that takes the managers and employees of the office has not appeared in the factories at the usual time. The strike started at 08:00 hours and on Tuesday began at 06:00 hours in Llodio and at 07:10 hours in Amurrio, in Álava. In this way, mass pickets have been avoided.
It should be recalled that last Tuesday there were incidents in the workers’ protests and that, in fact, on Tuesday, various works councils in Aiaraldea, including the Tubes Reunidos, met on the piquets. More than a hundred workers at the Amurrio plant have concentrated at 07:45 hours in the Eroski parking, from where they have accessed the factory entrance.
Final line of negotiations
March will, in principle, be the end of a long process that began in summer. In fact, the leadership of the Tubacex group has to clarify its approach once and for all on 10 March.
Before that, managers and members of the works council will meet at least three more times, on Tuesday, Thursday and next Tuesday.
