A demonstration against the Tapia Law was held in Gasteiz on Saturday.
- Araba Bizirik denounces the “authoritarianism” of the Basque Government. It calls for projects not to be imposed on municipalities and for the development of the energy transition by prioritizing nature, not “private interests”.
The platform announced the demonstration on 15 March at a press conference with the Basque Government. The platform that brings together the citizens’ initiative No to the TAV in Álava, Montes Libres de Álava (against wind power plants), No to this Project (against photovoltaic power plants) and Defense of Sustainable Food denounced that the Tapia Law “attacks the independence and sovereignty of local entities”: “It wants them to be allowed to act in an authoritarian way, avoiding the debate about the localization of the places. He also accused him of using the Ukrainian war to prevent and further condition the debate, on the pretext of energy needs and the climate of alarm. Planning a step towards decarbonisation of energy and a self-sufficiency system based on respect for, protection and conservation of natural areas and rural areas, Araba Bizirike asks for environmental measures.

In December the Tapia Law was passed in the Gasteiz Parliament and the platform convened a concentration in front of the building. Since it announced the demonstration on 14 May in March, it has taken other initiatives. In March, among others, a cycle of conferences was organized from the Alavese peoples, with the participation of Carlos Taibo or Adrián Almazán. Last Saturday a cycling march was held in Vitoria-Gasteiz and on 10 May a rally was held in the Plaza de los Fueros.
