Le Monde newspaper begins publishing a research report under the name of StravaLeaks. The problem is that the security agents that run some authorities, the escorts, are using Strava, and with it they are sharing the geocalized routes of their journeys. The event has revealed the positions of Macron, Biden and Putin, who have been arrested. Strava is a well-known application among athletes and fitness enthusiasts to record careers, bike rides, mountain climbs, etc., marking the roads and times as usual, according to public preferences.
For example, the top map shows the races that were set on foot or running around Bilbao. This is seen without login, but just create an account to zoom in and see the trajectories of the users of each neighborhood and every corner of the mountain.
This has been done, according to Le Monde, by the bodyguards who protect Emmanuel Macron, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden. Also some others, but those are the names that are mentioned at the moment in the first issue of the series of reports, devoted entirely to Macron (the article is paid).
Le Monde himself states in an additional article that Strava is "filled with security holes." The complaint seems rather weak: it is as if Republicans shared photos of their work on Instagram; Instagram cannot be accused of that absurd use. Well, the same goes for Strava, if you don't activate privacy in the settings, or if you're just working on Stravatz, because the responsibility is for the bodyguards, right?
