Euskaltzaindia has received 795 new forms in her dictionary. 513 entries, 199 entries and 83 habitual lexia. The head of the Dictionary of the Royal Academy of the Basque Language, Miriam Urkia, explained that in the new forms they have a “fairly solid basis” and are resorting to specialization. Thus, in the last review we have worked on the incorporation of new words in the kitchen, based on the contents of EITB and Berria. Urkia pointed out that in this area the dictionary was very empty. Here are some of the words from the kitchen that have been put in the dictionary: ajoarriero, gaukamole, rehogado, pocha, alioli, pisto, russian salad, carbonara, mixed salad, falafel, fettuccini, nuts, irris(-)esne (Ipar. ), fumet, cucurucho (South) and cone (North), pan, mozzarella, natxo, chicken(-)bular, pisto, risotto, roquefort, fried tomato.

Urkia explained that as they have always worked on the new forms, but that often the most important thing is to look at what is already there. “As usual, we’ve touched many ways, and we’ve reorganized, completed and corrected what we had. After all, we have put the greatest strength in the tasks of improvement, as the vocabulary must be continually revised.” 1,515 forms have been corrected or completed. In total, the dictionary collects 51,407 forms, 69,364 meanings, 114,002 examples and 519 ancient expressions.
