SOS Municipal Police
The Municipal Police of Donostia-San Sebastián has not yet solved the lack of staff in its staff. During the summer the workforce has been strengthened by the hiring of dozens of local police officers to meet the different needs and services that emerge during the summer in a tourist city like Donostia.
The City Council has joined the Arkaute Exchanges and Joint Calls and we have noted that the difficulties in complying with the temporary summer programmes are recurring: one year no agents arrived, others did not meet the linguistic requirements, etc.
This summer of 2024 we have another disaster, when the Municipal Police request agents from the unified stock exchange to carry out the temporary summer program (about 100), from Erandio they have only been able to send 30 agents, as the stock exchange there does not give the number of agents that all municipalities demand.
We will continue to demand their own bags and calls for the city to have a large, close and quality Municipal Police staff.
It should also be noted that in the last joint OPE 40 agents are being formed in Arkaute for San Sebastian. Of these, half are from other provinces and will make an opposition in the next call to approach the municipalities in which they reside. Not to talk to these people about the mobility that this entails in the day-to-day of their attendance at work (an average of 150 km a day), and in the last agreement of the Municipal Police the compensation rule for the transfer of these officers to the courts has had to be changed.
Even though the government team and the head of the Municipal Police are committed to this, this is not the way. We prepare the officials who come to us and from Arkaute are not able to send the number of municipal police that the city needs. Tourism has risen steadily and the number of agents to be reinforced by the Municipal Police has fallen, with the consequent increase in the workload among workers.
We will continue to demand their own bags and calls for the city to have a large, close and quality Municipal Police staff.
