The CAPV ambulance sector is in a labour dispute. Trade unions have established three days of strike from Monday to call for a wage increase that maintains purchasing power and the equalization of working conditions with workers in Osakidetza, according to EITB. The attached trade unions have been: ELA, USE, LAB, UGT, CCOO and ESK.
The ambulance cooperative La Pau and the strike commission agree to establish minimum services during the strike days. The cooperative indicates that they will offer at least 40 services in the morning and 25 in the afternoon from 20 to 22 November. Last Wednesday, La Pau denounced the sabotage of 45 vehicles and pointed out that since the beginning of the negotiating process in September they have sabotaged a total of 132 ambulances.
The cooperative La Pau has issued its salary proposal consisting of an increase of 21.66% of hourly wages in five years and a progressive reduction of working time in that period.
Strike also in December
Trade unions have called for other days of strike in December, in addition to those in November. They consider that the Basque Government and the employers in the sector have no “real will to negotiate” because they argue that they have been paralysed in the negotiations of the convention for more than two years. Unemployment will resume on 20, 21 and 22 December.
