The authors of the skolae re-testify before the courts
- Following a complaint by several Catholic parents and a right-wing platform, two of the authors of the Skolae programme on co-education and sexuality have declared for the second time this Wednesday morning at the Superior Court of Justice of Navarra. Two days later, the same programme will receive the UNESCO Prize for the Education of Women and Girls.
Carmen Ruiz and Marian Moreno, who participated in the development of the skolae, appeared on 14 June before the judge, who quoted Carmen Ruiz (once again) and Miguel Ángel Arconada. Eight parents of San Cernín College, the parents of the Concapa Catholic Confederation and the M18 platform, presided over by a pp deputy, have filed complaints to the program for indoctrination of children into “gender ideology”. On the contrary, Skolae is a programme applauded by experts and by the education community in general, which aims to educate on equality between the ages of 0 and 20 (among others, throughout all compulsory education).
Again, as they did in June, the trade unions have called for a concentration of support for the two professionals who have been summoned to the courts before the Navarra Hearing. At 9:00 in the morning they met under the motto “Equality is not optional”.
“We are concerned about whether Skolae is going to reach the classrooms properly”
In the manifesto, read by the trade unions present (STEILAS, ELA, LAB, CCOO, CGT, ESK, UGT), they denounced that what is happening is "shameful" and called for "stop the harassment of colleagues who are developing the Skolae project" and have censored "the attitude of the reactionary parties of our society". They are concerned that "in addition to the persecution they are receiving from the courts, some political decisions that have been taken in recent times may condition the proper functioning of Skolae in the classrooms. A clear example is the dismissal of the head of the Department of Equality of the Department of Education, Pilar Mayo. We therefore call on the Government of Navarra to ensure the full implementation of the Skolae programme, without any restrictions on content and process."
In addition, they have asked the Administration to "immediately implement protocols to address diversity in educational centers, implement laws to eradicate sexism, ensure the visibility of all realities in educational contexts and promote an egalitarian education towards diversity".
