Faced with the “immobilism” of Osakidetza, the unions SATSE, ELA, LAB, CCOO, UGT and ESK have called for a new day of strike. They stressed that the strike of 16 May, of the Specialized Care staff and of the Mental Health Network, is having a “comprehensive follow-up”. However, they have denounced that Osakidetza has denied thousands of workers the right to strike because they have been given “excessive” minimum services, “with the pandemic as an excuse”. “We are, of course, facing a new strategy of deactivating the strike,” they rejected.
The unions have criticized Osakidetza’s attitude because they have no “will for dialogue” and have taken “the path of propaganda and imposition” against the demands of the workers. The day of the strike therefore calls for this position to be left to sit at the negotiating table and for an “immediate” solution to be found.
Among other issues, strikers have requested that the precariousness they suffer in both the Specialized Care and the Mental Health Network be resolved and that the rate of temporary contracts be reduced. The trade unions have given two concrete examples in a note:
“Osakidetza has refused to end with a temporary rate of about 58%, which affects more than 24,000 workers. Faced with this serious picture of the employment situation, Osakidetza has imposed a stabilisation rate of 3,700 places.
Another good example is Professional Development. Beyond propaganda, we do not yet know when it is going to be called and when Osakidetza's salary is going to be paid for years ago. Let’s remember that Osakidetza committed to a special call in December last year.”
