The trade unions ask the Basque Government to agree with them how to turn the classrooms around
- Steilas, LAB, ELA, CCOO and UGT have sent the petition signed by the unions LAB, CCOO and UGT to the Department of Education of the Basque Government. What they are basically asking is for him to participate in the process and in the decisions: "To set in motion a procedure to negotiate and agree with workers' representatives both the end-of-course planning and the conditions for returning to classroom classes, the protocols and procedures to ensure health and concrete measures". Meanwhile, they have asked him to "suspend" the "unilateral decisions" that have been taken so far on the end of the school year in the Basque Country.
The trade unions have brought their proposals to the demand, as well as the shortcomings noted in the measures announced so far by Education (here can be read in full). Among the proposals is that Education establishes the same criteria to address classroom classes for all centers and that this course will be prepared for the EBAU exam in classrooms. They also propose that only high school students should be able to return to university. The unions are willing to propose face-to-face reinforcement classes for students who have disconnected from online learning due to the gap.
Trade unions call for a risk assessment for each centre
Among the deficiencies, it is highlighted that in each center the risk assessment of COVID-19 has not been carried out or that at least this circumstance has not been transferred to workers' representatives, despite the fact that "the request has been made effective". Arguments have been put forward in the classrooms against the compulsory use of the mask and it has been requested that the safety distance be 2 metres, as all the decrees so far have pointed out for the other areas, and not 1.5 metres.
Under what conditions?
The unions have warned that cleaning staff do not yet know what changes will bring the return to in-person classes in the way cleaning is done: "We don't know if cleaning and disinfection should be increased, if cleaning is subcontracted to extend the service to companies, to clean up as long as there are students (which can mean extending or changing the schedule) or if more staff should be hired. At the moment, this staff has not been informed of the evolution of accidents. In the case of cleaning personnel hired by the Department of Education, at the moment they have not been given any instruction or training to perform cleaning and disinfection."
So many sauces when the end of the course has been decided by many centers and have ended many classes?
It is not a joke that the trade unions have pedagogically raised: "In most stages/cases in which the Department of Education is proposing the initiation of classroom studies, the 2019/2020 school year is practically completed and is already organized by the centers, evaluations, etc. How to end online.
