The technical problems that Siemens Gamesa has had with wind turbines for grounding will end up directly affecting the workers: The company has proposed a temporary ere for 450 people, of which 423 are affected by factory workers in Euskal Herria, Zamudio and Asteasu. This has been assured by EITB Media.
The company and the unions reached a pre-agreement last Tuesday, and now the workers will have to vote and approve in the workers' assembly. If successful, the dossier could enter into force for a year and a half, although, as explained by the same medium, it is expected to be "flexible".
Siemens Gamesa has experienced numerous problems and economic losses with its onshore wind turbines due to failures of 4X and 5X turbines. A year ago, the company Siemens Energy, the owner of Gamesa, approved a €15 billion "rescue" plan with the German Government, but explained that it was going to undergo restructuring.
This led to alarms among the workers. So in November, the company announced "adjustments" in its instant messaging service for the United States. Estimated losses for 2025 amount to EUR 1.3 billion.
Workers, for their part, have ensured that this is an operation being carried out in "financial engineering". Gamesa has abandoned land-based wind turbines produced in the Basque Country and has put an eye on offshore or offshore wind plants.
Siemens Gamesa has 30,000 workers worldwide, 3,000 of them at its plants in Euskal Herria, Zamudio, Asteasu, Mungia, Sarriguren and Arazuri.

For the shipyard to move forward, its creditors face a debt of EUR 37 million, so an investor is sought to achieve it.
On Wednesday, the workers at the Zumaia plant will concentrate on Donostia-San Sebastián to call for a solution to the shipyard and its workers.
