The new identity of students in the process of gender change will be taken into account in the documentation of the Andalusian educational centers
- The Andalusian computer system of student files has launched a new option: in addition to introducing the name and sex of the birth of students who are in the process of changing their sexual identity, the name and sex corresponding to the new identity can be put in place and this new identity will be used in all records, functions and documents. At the moment, more than 250 students will take this opportunity in Andalusia.
Although no change of identity has yet been made in official documents, the objective is to respect this desire and take into account the new identity of the student in communications and documents of the center to avoid common errors in this field, such as the use of the biological name. The Andalusian Ministry of Education has informed schools that they must act in this way from now on, and Eldiario.es has reported on it.
The computer system allows all students to learn about the new identity: From Early Childhood Education to post-compulsory education. The reform responds to the request made long ago by their parents and in this situation there are more than 250 students in Andalusia, according to sources from the Andalusian Government.
