The French Government is ready to resume negotiations with SEASKA
- The Basque Language Public Agency asked the Ministry of Education to assume a budget of EUR 140,000 to solve the problem of job denial.
Parliamentarians and members of the Basque Public Office met in Paris on 29 November. In it, they transferred to the Ministry of Education that they are prepared to finance SEASKA if the French Government does not oppose it.
In an interview published in Kazeta.eus, the director of SEASKA, Hur Gorostiaga, stated that “to approve the EEP proposal, the State should abstain or at least not vote against”.
For this course 25 jobs were requested, but in the end the course was organized with 20. Of the 20, 14.5 stayed with SEASKA, but only 10 are included in the budget of the association. “We’ve set up but no money to pay them, the EEP wants to offer us the money to pay the remaining 4.5,” added Gorostiaga.
Under the Convention
At the meetings held in September, Pierre Barrière Academy Inspector showed his readiness to resolve the convention. Now, the director of SEASKA is confident that the State will present a different attitude, “because at Thursday’s meetings he was quite optimistic about the agreement.”
Gorostiaga has underlined that the signing of the agreement involves "ensuring the development of SEASKA and taking on its own personality".
