Seaska ensures continuity of occupation until the Minister of Education visits

After the refusal of a group of Seaska teachers to run the brebeta for the second consecutive year, on the afternoon of June 15, Seaska parents, students and teachers occupied the headquarters of the Academic Inspectorate of the Atlantic Pyrenees in Baiona. On 16 June, in a calmer atmosphere, Seaska director Hur Gorostiaga reported that the occupation will continue until Pap Ndiaye meets the French Minister of Education.
Tests in Basque
Jean-Michel Blanquer was the former Minister of Education of France and Gorostiaga stated that “it is a situation he left, so we asked the new minister, specialist in minorities, what he says about minority languages in the French state”. He says that until recently the students spoke part of the Basque Country and the Brebeta in its entirety. That is why they want to ask the new French minister for a solution.
Visits by political representatives
On 17 June, after spending the second night in the Baiona Secretariat, Naiz explained that in the second round the two candidates who will compete in the sixth demarcation have approached. Right-wing Member Vincent Bru (Ensemble) has come with them and has shown willingness to mediate with the Ministry of Education. It is followed by Tom Dubois, a member of the left of NUPES.
The two politicians will face each other in the second round, as they obtained 28.5% of the Bru votes in the vote last Sunday and 19.5% in the second NUPES Dubois-Robin. They are facing on 19 June.
