The Spanish minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, said that the policy of dispersion makes no sense after the dissolution of ETA. The Sare Citizens' Network has responded immediately to the delegate of the Spanish Government and, although it has valued its words "positively and with hope", it has shown itself to be prudent.
SARE has pointed out that Pedro Sánchez made similar statements in his inauguration as President of the Spanish Government, but "after that we have seen that the actions do not correspond to the words, because the Euskalherradas have not been made".
SARE has insisted that dispersion is an added punishment that applies to Basque prisoners and their relatives and is not based on law. Following demonstrations last Saturday, they asked Grande-Marlaska to meet with a meeting setting out the priorities and procedure that will entail the end of the dispersion.
