From 26 September to 3 October, the trial of the Sansoheta case before the Provincial Court of Álava has been held, pending the judgment. Prison demands have been tightened for six men accused: the Prosecutor ' s Office for 14 to 34 years and the Clara Campoamor Association, which has participated as a popular indictment, for 30 to 47 years.
A total of ten men have been tried for sexual abuse by seven children between the ages of 14 and 17 who were in custody at the Sansoheta Center of the Provincial Council of Álava in 2016. On the first day of the trial, four men reached an agreement with the prosecution, recognizing the crimes and showing “repentance.” They managed to reduce the penalties: Comply with prison sentences of 1 to 13 years.
However, the other six defendants await the judgment because they have defended their innocence. They recognize that these kids were paid for “sex,” but they say they “didn’t know” that they were underage. The victims have stated that it was clear that they were not 18 years old, that they had an “Arpegi child”, and the prosecution has also accused the defendants of not having concerned themselves with securing the age of majority of the victims. They are condemned for crimes of child prohibition, sexual abuse, child pornography and public health offences.
