June Fernández is one of the finalists of the Journalism Award with the report “Nereabea and Sexual Education: The problem is porn?” published in ARGIA.
The jury has named the eight finalists of the 2024 Rikardo Arrangi Journalism Awards. According to the Basque Service of the City of Andoain, as usual, two prizes will be awarded: Journalism and Communication Award, both for an amount of 9,000 euros. In this edition, journalist Ana Galarraga Aiestaran will receive the milestone of honor of the Rikardo Arrangi Prize for Journalism 2024. The awards will take place on November 27 at the Bastero Cultural Center in Andoain, and the organization will make known the names of the winners.
The jury has selected four finalists from each of the awards. In the June Fernández ARGIA Journalism Prize he has published the report “Nereabea eta sexuaren: pornoa ote da arazo?”; the book “Juana” by Jon Artano Izeta; “Feminizketak” by Maite Asensio, Amaia Igartua and Isabel Jaurena in the newspaper Berria; and the juvenile medium.
In the communication prize the four finalists are the project of the Cultural Association of Basque Wikilaris “Ikusgela”, the podcast “Ezer ez eta festa” of the Berria newspaper, the podcast of EITB “Ez hain ondo” and the podkasta “Flop kultura” of Euskalerria Irratia.
June Fernández is a clear and crude report on the impact of ponography on adolescent sexual education.
Emakunde used the thesis that pornography is the origin of sexual violence as a campaign for 25 November 2023. Although it was a topic that caused discomfort in the public debate, journalist June Fernández made it an argument for the analysis. Fernandez elaborated a brutal and comprehensive report, with the words of many expert interlocutors on the subject, as well as the opinions of five mothers from Euskal Herria, to make known how the issue is dealt with in the homes. The judges of the Rikardo Arrangi Journalism Awards have also highlighted the images of the report, considering that they “deserve a special mention”.
