Fake self-employed, uncertainty, judgments, rulings, rider’s law… In recent times, important movements are taking place in the bicycle dealers sector, and in this context, LAB and the Riders Group X have claimed the need for an organization.
Thanks to the collective struggle they have already achieved some small achievements, such as the return of the quotas of the self-employed, the recognition or readmission of their status as employees... In order to implement the decisions of the judgments, various movements are required and this LAB video or the open entry on the BiziLan platform respond to this. From the Platform Riders for Human Rights and the LAB syndicate encourage riders to continue explaining that "two members of the trade union section have received reimbursement of the quotas of self-employed of €3,000 and 7,000".
As for the achievements, they say that this is only the "beginning of the struggle". They provide for contracts to be regulated in August and then for redundancies and reductions in working hours, as companies will try to avoid hiring all workers who are currently working.
The four Hego Euskal Herria Hospitality Agreements to be opened in January will defend the following key points: One, integrate the riders in the hospitality group. According to the country, this would mean an annual salary of between EUR 18,700 and EUR 21,500 if working full-time, and an annual working day of between 1,723 and 1,750 hours. Two, subrogation. And three, incorporate a regulation that responds to the specific work of the rider to increase the protection of workers.
The members of LAB and the Riders x Rights Platform have ensured that they will put all the resources to improve the living conditions of the workers. And they encourage workers in the sector to organise themselves and create trade union sections because it is urgent to regularise the situation as soon as possible and to develop conventions adapted to the reality.
