The Provincial Court of Gipuzkoa has ordered the investigation of the case of a woman injured by Ertzaintza charges in the incidents prior to the football match between Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain on March 5, 2024.

This person reported having received a punch in the eye before the football match at 19:20 hours, but the Court of Investigation of Donostia-San Sebastián filed the complaint without hardly performing any diligence or making a statement to the victim. Now, according to the instructions of the court, the court will have to open further proceedings to identify the police officers who participated in the aggression and their officers.

The case of another person seriously injured in police charges before this party, the amateur of the Real Sociedad Amaya Zabarte, is known. Everything points out that a foam shell had to be transferred to the ICU for a blow to the head.

Both have carried out a similar judicial process: the examining court closed the case and the Provincial Court ordered its reopening after the appeal of the family. In addition, in both cases, the lawyers call for an investigation into what happened by police forces outside the Ertzaintza and for access to all video images of that day.

Ten months after the events, the Basque Government has not made known any internal investigation of the Ertzaintza. Even the Basque Government Security Advisor, Bingen Zupiria, doubted that Zabarte was injured with a foam shell, even though the medical parts and images were disseminated. The Department of Security has at no time pronounced itself on the second of those wounded by gunshot.
