The former president of the Generalitat has made this statement from the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya. It has mainly targeted citizenship and directly: “You are the only hope that the Spanish State will take us out of the well that wants us to sink again.”
The former president has stated that autonomy is the problem in itself: “An autonomy in which Parliament rejects the resolutions that are being published, in which the Government of Catalonia sees its president dismissed as a result of a blow caused by the powers of the Spanish State”. It has argued that it is time to go beyond the current political phase and "look again towards the horizon of independence". In order to achieve this objective, he stressed that they should "put the democratic break in place" and "jump all the walls", making a direct appeal to the "committed and organized" citizenship.
Torra has recognised that the objective he had as president was to make the Catalan Republic a reality and that he has not achieved it: “I haven’t been able to go further.” It has announced that it will continue to fight for independence and that it will lead to its disqualification from the European courts: "I don't give up, let alone accept the sentence. I will bring freedom of expression and the cause of our independence to Europe. And we'll win."
Those who were President No. 131 of the Generalitat called to regain the spirit that made the referendum on 1 October possible and warned the parties that "there is a common goal that is more important than all particular interests". Once again, it was addressed to the citizens at the end of the declaration: "We can make our dream come true. Citizens of Catalonia, push."
