It was the third Euroorder issued by Judge Pablo Llarena for the entry into prison of the Catalan independence leaders after the ruling of 14 October. In the first examination, Belgian justice released Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comin, imposing two measures: to be always located and the ban on leaving the country without permission.
After the elections to the European Parliament, however, they were both elected MEPs and since then have been dancing their parliamentary vocation and, therefore, their immunity. On 3 February last, the Belgian courts had a hearing to resolve these facts, but the judgment of the European Court of Justice of 19 December in favour of Oriol Junqueras was based on that decision to annul the Belgian Euroorder.
In order to resume the Euroorder, the European Parliament must waive immunity before the Supreme Court. Until then, Puigdemont and Comin are free citizens in Belgium, where Spain and France are the absolute majority.
