While in the 2023 budgets of Navarre it was decided to allocate 248,000 euros to guarantee the rights of LGTBI+, the PSN and Ahal Duguk have decided to reduce the economic resources of the public service of sexual diversity Kattalingune by 17%, placing them at 205,000 euros. The remaining 43,000 euros will be used directly by the government, outside Kattalingorri, responsible for managing the issue since 2016.
In fact, of the five work programmes managed by Kattalingun, the Government has assumed two responsibilities. The reduction involves the dismissal of three of the seven Kattalingune workers, thus passing the current days to four.
Navarre Suma and EH Bildu oppose the measure, as well as members of the Geroa Bai and Left-Ezkerra Government. Yesterday’s plenary session, the four parties unanimously called for 100% service, both in budgetary and staffing terms.
The decision has also had an impact beyond Parliament. Kattalingor himself organized a demonstration on February 25 at 18:00 in the Plaza del Castillo de Pamplona. The video of the call, in which several Kattalingorri queen drags appear next to the clown Porrotx, is making a viral on social media.
With the mobilization, the group wishes to denounce the budget reduction, the deterioration of public attention to LGTBIQ+ people, the lack of consultation of the decision with gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals, the lack of a possible saving project and the exclusion of rural people that entails centralizing the entire service in Pamplona.
