The trade union majority in Euskal Herria has called a protest day for the next 25 March. Trade unions have criticised the response being given to the coronavirus crisis. They denounce that the essential work is being carried out by the workers without the necessary preventive measures, in a situation of “risk”. And that many workers in unnecessary areas are working, forced and unsafe. They accuse the authorities and businessmen of putting economic interests before health.
The crisis at the expense of workers
According to the unions, employers and governments want the crisis to be paid by the workers: “The previous crisis forced us to pay the workers, and now the employers and governments want the health crisis also to be paid by us.” They have demanded that there be no loss in working conditions or jobs.
For all these reasons, the unions have shown their “indignation” and have called on the workers and the citizens to demonstrate on Friday with “the resources of each”: work stops, photos, buzzing…
