Sortu's note denounces that on Tuesday afternoon the Civil Guard appeared in Lesaka "with the intention of remembering the darkest years of repression" and "beat the citizens directly". That is what has happened: “When a young man from the town had just parked his car on the commute home, the civil guards stood up and asked him questions. At first, they have unfortunately become commonplace and are becoming more and more aggressive over time. Under the menace of the metralleta, the young man was registered”. After that, Sortu explained that he ‘suffered a long interrogation’. Political consultation on its ideology. He added, ‘aggressive and provocative, accompanied by impunity for the uniform, with arms in hands as always’.

In the opinion of Sortu, in this health crisis that has generated Covid-19 “we have been acting responsibly for weeks, putting life in the centre above capital, prioritizing care”. But «in the images we have seen the Spanish armed forces making attempts at justification: closing borders, walking through the streets, invading military with the excuse of disinfecting... paying tribute to Spanish nationalism». And he believes that what happened in Lesaka was a “clear example of it.”

In the face of this situation, Sortu said that ‘enough’: ‘We have had to live these situations for too many years. Because they are Basque, because they are Lesakarras, they cannot stay in the street, do consultations, try to intimidate us...’ That's "we can't afford it," the note says, adding that "they're left in the way of the solution."

In the opinion of Sortu, life must be put at the centre and care must be given priority.
