A prisoner appears dead in Zaballa prison on 25 December
- It is the sixth prisoner of eta who died in Alavesa prison in 2020, about 50 years old. Salhaketa has indicated that "he is the last prisoner of the macabre list convicted of lack of medical care, neglect, medicalization of hyper and other atrocities within the Zaballa macro-prison". His body appeared on the morning of December 25. Salhaketa has called for a repulse for the next 12 January in Bilbao.
The prison itself and the penitentiary institutions have not provided "any" information, according to Salhaketa. It has denounced that the fact that those responsible do not give "any active response" is "clearly part of a strategy of impunity". He recalled that the conditions for denouncing prison abroad are "increasingly restrictive and criminalised" against the "state of alarm that prohibits all instruments of denunciation and struggle". He added that the pandemic has greatly hindered out-of-district communication, "so we have a lot of trouble making abuses public."
Pandemic inside prison
Salhaketa recalled the situation of prisoners and their families during the pandemic: "For many months now, prisoners have been completely isolated from what happens outside; they have no direct relationship with their relatives or with their protective environment. (...) The families that are organizing themselves in the face of this cruel incommunication are in a very difficult situation." He has claimed that these "demand the minimum rights" to maintain "minimal contact with the people inside, since, once again, the deaths confirm that they are the result of this total disconnection".

Salhaketa addressed the following questions to those responsible: "What do those responsible for the Zaballa prison intend to do? Will urgent preventive measures be taken to prevent the recurrence of these very serious, foreseeable and avoidable events in all cases, or will the non-implementation and passivity of reception resources and psychological and health care required by prisoners continue to be pursued? What kind of professionals are in the hands of prisoners? ".
