Twenty months after the arrest of journalist Pablo González, the journalist will be sentenced to two years in prison in February 2024, following the decision of the Rcesow court to extend the provisional prison for a further three months on Wednesday. The decision has been extended for the seventh time. Free Pablo González communicates the agreement in the social network X: “We are depressed. It was another blow.” They add that he remains in prison “denying fundamental rights and without evidence”.
Pablo González was arrested on 28 February 2022 on the border between Poland and Ukraine. He was arrested in the middle of the night by agents of the Polish Internal Security Agency and has since been held almost incommunicado. According to statements by Polish justice to date, he was arrested on charges of working for the Russian military secret services. He has since been sentenced to a three-month provisional prison, but the Rzeszow Court has been extended to two years.
