Yesterday, 21 March, International Poetry Day was celebrated. Every year a multitude of activities are organized around this excuse to bring literature in general and poetry in particular from paper to voice and make it more visible. Although the state of health emergency has only increased the number of poetic and literary activities organized in Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastián and Pamplona/Iruña. Although a number of activities were already held yesterday, many others will be enjoyed this week.
Bilbao
The Bilbao Poetry Festival started last 15th, and will continue until next Monday, 29th April. Leire Bilbao, Itziar Mínguez, Beatriz Chivite and Julia Piera will offer today the recital “Bilbao – London” at the Bidebarrieta Library, at 19:00 hours.
Tomorrow, 23 March, the documentary “Gaztelondo zer berri. In “Etxahun” you can enjoy a show in the form of cabaret. Dominika Rekalt, Mixel Etxekopar, Pierre Vissler and Jean Christian Galtxetaburu will be in charge of putting music and lyrics to the life and work of Pierre Topet Etxahun. The screening will take place within the Loraldia festival, at the Library of Bidebarrieta, at 19:00 hours.
On Wednesday, March 24, the Bilbao Poetry Festival will end with the recital of José Fernández de la Sota. Pianist Joé Luis Canal will accompany the piano. The appointment will be at the Library Bidebarrieta, at 19:00.
This week the Loraldia festival ends in Bilbao, and tomorrow the international festival of letters Gutun zuria starts with the talk “Inon izatcerca” by Anari and Iñigo Astiz.
Donostia-San Sebastián
Today begins San Sebastian Poetry Week, which will last until Friday, with varied and varied programming. To start the week, Itxaro Borda will talk about his poetry with Iratxe Retolaza, and also will be interested in some of the poems he recites. On Wednesday, poets Luis García Montero and Itziar Mínguez will meet in the event hall of the Ernest Lluch Cultural Center from 19:00 in the afternoon to comment on the work and the journey of García Montero. Registration in amarakulturetxea@donostia.eus.
Thursday is the end of the programming of the IV International Poetry Festival, to be held in Bilbao. Awards for the Donostia Kultura Poetry Competition. It will be from 11:00 a.m. in the San Jerónimo Room of the Central Library. Invitations can be requested in donostiakoliburutegiak@donostia.eus.
Pamplona/Iruña
Yesterday the first events were also held in Pamplona/Iruña, with the tribute of Sheila Blanco to several writers from the 27th generation and the concert by Antton Valverde. Today the program will be presented by journalist Oihane Garmendia.All will share her work and will talk about the poetic panorama in Basque Navarre.
On Tuesday, Veronica Aranda and Aitor Francos, led by Javier Asiáin, will offer a program in which they will deal with poets born in the 1980s. It will be in the Condestable, at 19:00 hours. The programme will end on Wednesday, with Mr McCartin's visit. With the show “Planet Poetry” by Vertigo.
