The beaches of Plentzia and Gorliz were seen on Saturday at noon loaded with yellow flags and symbols. In fact, under the motto “Without registration, not being able to be”, the mobilization of the Yellow Tide has been carried out in these municipalities. At 12:00 they meet in the ramp of the Playa de Gorliz, from where they descend to the arenal. There they have made a chain of rags and banners, and so they have continued to the ramp of Arkot. Once the port is surrounded, they move to the Plaza Astillero de Plentzia, where they pay tribute to the missing migrants, and then throw flowers to the estuary.

Entrepreneurs have recalled that in this 2023 edition, Ongi Etorri Refugees wanted to raise awareness of a very important problem for migrants who have come to our country: municipal registration. They stress that the municipal census is not just a role, “it is the gateway to many rights.” And that is that, without registration, they explain that it is very difficult to have a health card to access the referral outpatient clinic or basic education for minors, as well as the Lanbide courses or basic social benefits, as they have determined.

Moreover, they regret that without the municipal register it is not possible to start the period for obtaining a residence that ends the situation of administrative irregularity: “It’s very difficult for many people to get there, even impossible.”

According to the members of the group, in Bizkaia, most people living in an irregular situation cannot register anywhere because the Administration does not take into account their specific circumstances, but "live in neighborhoods and towns and municipalities have an obligation to register". Therefore, they ask all municipalities and the Association of Basque Municipalities (Eudel) to implement a protocol to ensure the registration of all persons resident in the municipality who cannot be registered under the current conditions.
