The social dining room Paris 365 does not close its doors with a collection of 70,000 euros
- The social dining room Paris 365 in Pamplona, for its part, needs 100,000 euros in order not to be forced to close its doors. According to the President of the Gizakia Herritar Foundation, Patxi Lasa, the collection figure amounts to EUR 70,000 per month.
Lasa explained that most of the contributions were from private individuals: "The price they have given ranges from EUR 3 to EUR 3,000," he said.
In 2009, the social dining room Paris 365 was opened on Jarauta Street. The Gizakia Herritar Foundation has distributed over 278,000 breakfasts, meals and dinners over these ten years and distributed over 10,250 baskets of food. Currently the dining room is on the street barefoot.
SOS Paris 365
Last December, the SOS Paris 365 campaign was launched, in view of the risk of its closure. The members of the Foundation stressed at a press conference that, ten years later, the services it offers remain of absolute urgency: “At first there was a need, today, and we believe that for the future the need will remain there,” said Sofia Antón, head of food resources. "In recent months, demand has increased," he added. The increase in demand is due, on the one hand, to the generalized growth in winter, which receives from the neighborhoods and social services of Pamplona people in a situation of precariousness and, on the other, to the increase of people with problems of access to housing. The Foundation stresses the need to respond to these basic needs.
