ARGIA and the Senegalese association Mbolo de Bilbao launched the project “Inor ez da ilegala” last year, and this book is the last fruit of that collaboration. Once again, it is a question of further strengthening the claim project “No one is illegal”.
ARGIA journalist Mikel García Idiakez brings to the book the experiences and reflections of Pape Niang. “When I left Senegal eleven years ago, I didn’t think that being black was going to be condemned any more to cross the border of my country, which was going to suffer so many humiliations. I had not imagined that my birth in Africa would make me illegal in Europe. But I also didn't expect to start working in a cooperative made up of migrants and led by migrants, above the walls raised by Europe. My name is Pape Niang and my story starts in the city of Ndar,” the synopsis says.
Wednesday, in Bilbao
On June 5, at the Bira Kultur Gunea in Bilbao, the protagonist and the author of the book will present the work at 19:00 hours. Together with them, Marta Abiega will report on the experience of Bizkaia Harrera Sarea. After the presentation, there will be a space for the tertulia.
Thursday, in Trintxerpe
On 6 June, the appointment will be at the Trintxerpe library, also at 19:00. Pape Niang and Mikel García will participate in the tertulia. This presentation is part of the initiative “In Pasaia we will celebrate diversity”, as the City Council has organized the month of diversity. Through many activities, it is intended to “make visible the daily reality of the people and value the contribution of diversity”.
