This weekend, xenophobic and pro-genocide messages were painted in a sympathetic mural with Palestine next to the Sanjuandegi roundabout in Azpeitia. The Elkar-ekin group has reported that they have been eliminated the following day. They have added that in recent months posters announcing initiatives for Palestine have been removed from the walls, "to the extent that in some neighbourhoods all the posters have disappeared".
Since Elkar-ekin, they have lamented these messages through Islamophobic messages that are fuelling hatred and discrimination against an entire community in Azpeitia and that support genocide.
Faced with the rise of fascism, they have stressed the need for an in-depth analysis of the social and economic situation, as well as "to act against it with determination". They have added that "listening to similar comments and rumors based on lies" is common in many corners and spaces of the Gipuzkoan locality of Azpeitia. They have therefore stressed that "it is an obligation of all not to allow such messages to be normalised".
