For its participation in a series of pro-Palestinian demonstrations, and without opening any legal proceedings, the German State wishes to expel four citizens who live there. A Pole, two Irish and one American are targeted by the Berlin Migration Office, which in a letter received in March specifies that they have until April 21 to leave on their own. If not, they would be eliminated.
One of them is Kasia Wlaszcyk, who has reported her situation by letter in the Guardian. It is not the first time that the German State has taken steps to obstruct solidarity in favour of Palestine. Among other things, all asylum applications from Gaza have been illegally frozen since October 2023. Here's what Wlaszcyki says: "These extreme measures are not a sudden change, nor are they simply the adoption of a far-right attitude. They are the result of a year-long campaign by the Ampel liberal coalition – the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Liberal Democratic Party (FDP) and the Greens – and the German media. Calls have been made to channel mass expulsions, especially against the Arab and Muslim population in Germany, and this in response to the growing pro-Palestinian movement."
In their case, they are accused of "anti-Semitism" and their positions in favor of "terrorist groups", adding that they are "a threat to the public order". Both the “fascist” insult to a policeman and the screaming of free Palestine – a slogan that has been banned in Germany since last year – from the River to the sea, among other things, serve as evidence.
Staatsräson or state motive is called Germany’s moral and political obligation to support Israel for the Holocaust. In essence, this is explained as one of the reasons for the expulsion of four citizens. Since October 7, 2023, the German state has been trying to silence any pro-Palestinian initiative, all in the so-called "anti-Semite".
In order to denounce this new phase of "intimidation" that comes with expulsion manuals, the proceedings against them were announced on April 3. All four of them have filed a complaint against these expulsions. The Polish says that because of the Schengen area, the expulsion of a European from a village within Europe is "almost impossible". However, it is clear that the issue will be political: "These expulsion orders are a test of how far the state can go in terms of repression, and it is difficult to predict what the sentence will be."
In view of the genocide taking place in Palestine, the young Polish man concludes his letter with the warning that the mobilisation for the Palestinians is an "urgent responsibility".
